Collection of Promises: A Promise to Demerian Hudson

Demerian Hudson was humble, ambitious and selfless. He was his mother’s “Stickum Bear,” a beloved son, brother and young man who stepped forward when someone needed help—including the day he helped a mother safely recover her two-year-old daughter.

Demerian’s Promise was created with love by his mother, brother and sister. It is our promise to protect his story, honor the life he lived and make sure his name is never forgotten.

Demerian will always be remembered for more than what happened to him. He will be remembered for who he was, the people he loved and the lives he touched.

Demerian Dion Hudson

To his family, Demerian Hudson was not simply someone they loved—he was someone they needed. He was his brother’s best friend, his sister’s favorite person and his mother’s “Stickum Bear,” the baby who stayed close and never wanted to let her go.

Demerian was 22 years old when he disappeared in July 2022. For nearly two weeks, his family searched, prayed and waited for him to come home before learning that he had been murdered and buried behind a North Lauderdale home. A suspect has been charged with first-degree murder, and the case remains in the pretrial stage. His murder changed every part of their lives and left a space in their family that no one else can fill.

But the worst thing that happened to Demerian is not the story that should define him. Just one year earlier, when a stranger became the victim of a carjacking with her two-year-old daughter still inside the vehicle, she asked Demerian for help—and he did not hesitate. He gave her a ride, followed the stolen vehicle and helped her reach her child safely. When someone needed him, Demerian showed up. His family’s promise is to do the same for him now: to fight for justice, carry his story forward and make sure the world never forgets how deeply he was loved.

My baby came into this world early, but he was strong from the beginning. God blessed me with Demerian. He was a good dad to my grandson, and I want him to always know how much his dad loved him. Losing Demerian broke something in me that will never be the same. I pray every day for strength and for justice to be done. I just don’t want anyone to forget my baby.
— Charrelle Green, Demerian's Mother
To Meri—your love, your spirit and your strength inspired me every day. I promise to carry your memory with me always and to make you proud in everything I do. You will forever be in our hearts. I love you forever. 💙🕊️”
— Pryska — Demerian’s Sister
“To my brother, I will never forget you. I promise to keep my promise to you and make sure the world knows who you really were. Losing you left a void that can never be filled. You were our blessing, and I thank God we didn’t miss it.”
